On The Wire in 2012
Kicking off with a selection of short dance films in partnership with the Cornwall Film Festival, this year OTW will take place over two evenings Friday 30th November and Saturday 1st December. Showcasing live dance performances from regional and nationally touring dancers and an exhibition of artwork, stills photography and film in the gallery. Featured artists work includes an especially commissioned photography by Steve Tanner (Kneehigh) and visual art from Belinda Whiting and Melanie Young.
This year the evening’s programme brings together work from Canada, Spain, Cornwall, Exeter, London and Plymouth.
A jam-packed feast for the eyes, with live music and a bar providing a platform to meet some of the artists involved and a chance for conversations to spark new collaborative relationships.
OTW Workshops – A Creative Exchange. The first of these was held at the end of October at the Performance Centre dance studios at University College Falmouth. It brought together regional professional dancers and acclaimed visual artists for two hours of improvisation based movement, offering opportunity for artists draw and sketch the dancers in action. Some of this work will be exhibited in the gallery space offering an insight into how dance can be an inspirational vehicle, and our process behind creating this collaborative work.
